Five fast minutes with Dani Vee

Do you have a good luck charm or a special token that sits on your desk/in your office?

Not really a good luck charm but I love being surrounded by all my podcast tech! I also like looking at the artwork my kids made me, which is regularly updated on my pinboard.

Favourite exercise to counteract all the hours sitting at the keyboard?

Anything that doesn’t feel like exercise but feels like fun! A walk with the kids, rollerblading or rock climbing.

What’s your go-to weekday dinner dish? Bacon and mushroom pasta, the kids always go for seconds! Always a salmon somewhere in there too and some air fried fries!

Which career would you choose if money wasn’t a factor and writing wasn’t an option? A food critic! Imagine going to all those fancy restaurants for work.

Chocolate, potato chips or cheese? How do you choose between chocolate and cheese? No really how??? Faced with the impossible choice, I’d have to choose chocolate – just!

Have you done anything special with any of your advances? Where all my money goes, on dresses LOL!

Spot where you seem to get the best bursts of inspiration? Usually when I’m cleaning the house or going for a walk. I need my head away from my desk or my laptop for my brain to solve creative problems.

Agent or no agent? Not at the moment because I’m dealing directly with my publisher, but never say never!

Do you have a writing ‘uniform’ (mine’s big earrings, cardigan and jeans)? Leggings, Ugg boots and a top that looks good on a Zoom meeting! Always earrings too, I love earrings.

Aussie novel you’re most looking forward to in 2022? The Brink by legend Holden Sheppard

Best one-line sentence from one of your book reviews? ‘My EXTRAordinary Mum is a love song to a life of road trips and yoga, drum circles and tattoos, wind in hair and F’s given! It celebrates the bravery of single parenting and the importance of continuing to do the things you loved before having children.’ Lara Cain Gray (Charming Language)

Share a quirky habit or something readers might be surprised to discover about you. Hmmm, I like reading multiple books at once, I don’t need much sleep and I’m always cold.

Where can people find you online? DaniVeeBooks (Insta/ Twitter/ FB) You can also check out the website, but I’m terrible at updating it! daniveebooks.com. Of course, anywhere you listen to your podcasts you can find Words and Nerds Podcast!

Thanks for being part of the blog! X Maya Thank YOU, Maya for supporting writers in all forms!
